Waiting for Deliveries in Cirencester
Sitting in for a courier slot, a tradesperson, or a delivery that needs a signature so you do not lose half a day.
Courier slots are fiction. Tradespeople run late. A four-hour delivery window means a morning stuck at home. Martin sits in for you so you can get on with your day.
What is included
Waiting at your house for a courier delivery (Royal Mail, DPD, Evri, DHL, UPS, FedEx), accepting the parcel, signing if needed, putting it somewhere safe, and locking up. Waiting in for a tradesperson (a boiler engineer, a meter reader, a carpet fitter) for an agreed window, letting them in, staying with them while they work, and locking up afterwards. Waiting for a delivery of something that needs help unpacking, lifting or positioning once it arrives (a new washing machine, a sofa, a wardrobe flat-pack).
If the tradesperson is doing work Martin is not qualified to supervise (a gas engineer, an electrician on a notifiable job), he will stay present but not interfere with the work. He is there to let them in and lock up, not to inspect.
What is NOT included
Martin will not sign for something he has not seen arrive, accept a delivery that looks damaged without flagging it and photographing it first, or pay for anything on your behalf on the doorstep unless it has been pre-arranged. He will not let anybody into the house who has not been expected.
How long it takes
A four-hour delivery window is four hours. A two-hour courier slot is two hours. A tradesperson visit is whatever the job takes, within reason. Martin books the visit as a half-day (£125) or a full day (£230) depending on the window length, whichever works out best for you.
Pricing
First hour £55, each hour after £35. A half-day (up to four hours) is £125 and a full day is £230. Most delivery-waits are half-day bookings. If the courier does not turn up within the agreed window, Martin will stay for a reasonable overrun, and discuss with you before extending further.
Common questions
What if the courier never comes? You still pay for the time booked, because the time has been held. Martin will text you an update when the slot ends and discuss what you want to do next.
Can you unpack and position the delivery? Yes, within reason. A washing machine pushed into place and plumbed in is a separate plumbing job. A sofa moved into the lounge is fine.
Do you take photos of the delivered item? Yes. Martin will photograph the box on arrival, the condition of any external damage, and send them to you so there is a record if you need to raise a claim.
