Light Housekeeping in Cirencester
Vacuuming, kitchen tidy, bins out, bedding changed, washing on. Companion-style help, alongside the other jobs on your list.
A bit of tidying, the recycling sorted, the bed changed, the washing on. Not a deep clean, just the everyday things that add up over a week. Martin can include light housekeeping as part of a visit in Cirencester homes, usually alongside other tasks.
What is included
Vacuuming main rooms, kitchen tidy (washing up, wiping surfaces, emptying the drainer), bins out to the kerb on the right day and brought back in afterwards, recycling sorted between the caddies, bedding changed on a single or double bed, a wash put on and hung to dry or put in the tumble dryer, a quick bathroom wipe-round (basin, taps, a clean of the loo), a sweep of the porch and front step, and tidying up after a family visit.
This is deliberately light-touch work. It pairs well with other jobs on the same visit. A typical booking might be odd jobs in the morning and a light housekeeping pass before Martin leaves, or a grocery shop combined with kitchen tidy and bins out.
What is NOT included
A proper deep clean (oven, extractor fan, behind the fridge, full bathroom descale) is a professional cleaner's job and is much better handled by a local cleaning firm. Martin is not a substitute for weekly scheduled cleaning if that is what you need. If you already have a cleaner who comes in fortnightly, Martin's light housekeeping is about the bits in between, not a replacement.
How long it takes
A quick tidy (vacuum downstairs, kitchen wipe, bins out) is usually 45 minutes to an hour. Adding a bed change and a wash is another 30 minutes. A fuller morning of tidying around a house is usually a two to three hour slot.
Pricing
First hour £55, each hour after £35. Light housekeeping nearly always works out more economical booked alongside other jobs, where the first hour is already being used. If you want it as a standalone weekly visit, a standing booking can be set at a sensible flat rate.
Common questions
Do I need to provide cleaning products? Yes, use whatever you already have. Martin is not bringing a cleaner's kit, that is a different trade. A basic spray, a cloth, and whatever you like for the bathroom is plenty.
Can you do a full deep clean of the oven? No. A specialist oven cleaning firm does that properly with proper chemicals and a lot of elbow grease. Martin can recommend one locally.
Will you change my bedding? Yes. Stripping, putting on fresh bedding, and the old set into the wash is straightforward. It is one of the jobs people find hardest on a bad back day.
